Once a canopy is chosen for use at a party, the fun can begin. Not just the party fun, but the fun part of decorating the party canopy. While a canopy itself will add shelter and a gathering spot at a party, by adding some decorations, it will become a focal point of the event. Party tents are about the biggest canopies you can get, besides a carport canopy.
There are quite a few options for decorating a sun canopy for a party. Depending on the time of day and the theme of the party, and of course, budget, there are many different techniques to make the canopy one of a kind. For the easiest and simplest decorations, go with balloons and streamers. These can be attached at the four corners and the posts, or they can be strung along the bottom edges of the canopy itself. Take into account the party color theme and stick to that. If there is not a color, go with the guest of honor’s favorite colors.
Another nice option is the use of flowers. This is especially pretty for anything wedding related, prom or perhaps a sweet sixteen party. Most girls and women love flowers, so it is a lovely addition to party canopies. The flowers can be bunched along the posts or wound around them in vine form. Garlands can also be draped around the edges or even hung inside the canopy.
Lights are a whimsical touch and add ambiance to an evening party. Drape them around the outside of party canopies and in the inside as well, hanging from the ceiling and around the inner edges, and wind them around the posts of the canopy. Tiny lights, like Christmas tree lights work well, as do larger string lights. Sometimes fun lighting can be found to match the party, like chili pepper lights for a salsa style party or tiny flowers on a string for a garden party. Another look for lighting is with paper lanterns. These come in different shapes, from globes to small lampshade styles, sometimes with added cutouts. These look great hanging from the ceiling or the inner canopy structure.
Cloth can also be draped from the canopy adding a tent like feel. It can be done in different materials for different effects; stripes add a cabana look while sheers will make a more romantic look.
When decorating a party canopy, the sky is the limit with creativity. Do what looks good and matches the party, whether it is with lighting, greenery and flowers, or fabric, or even a combination. The effect will be dazzling!
